What are the stages of Head and Neck Cancer? (1)
The most commonly used system used to classify cancer into stages is the TNM cancer staging system from the American Joint committee on cancer
T Stands for size of the primary tumor and how far the main tumor has spread into nearby tissues,
N Stands for lymph Nodes near the primary tumor where the cancer might have spread and
M Stands for metastasis indicating whether the cancer has spread to other areas of the body like lungs, liver or bone
The observations are combined to determine the stage of cancer for each person. As per the stage of the cancer, the doctors work together to plan the best treatments.
